NAIA to double passenger arrival cap to 10,000 on March 1

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is set to double its passenger arrival cap to 10,000 starting March 1 following the shift of Metro Manila and other regions to Alert Level 1.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade announced that the Department of Transportation's (DOTr) Aviation Sector has prepared for this gradual increase through structural and procedural adjustments.

This move is supported by the fact that all public transportation, including air travel, are now permitted to operate at 100 percent capacity under Alert Level 1.

Mandatory safety protocols will continue to be enforced throughout the travel process, from departure to arrival.

NAIA Terminal 4 is scheduled to reopen on March 28, coinciding with a significant 150 percent increase in domestic travel observed between January and February.

Additionally, the new NAIA Taxiway Charlie will enhance the airport's capacity to handle more aircraft, increasing slots from approximately 34-40 to 44-46.
