Five Salisi gang members nabbed at NAIA Terminal 3

Five suspected members of the "Salisi" gang were arrested at NAIA Terminal 3 on May 11 following weeks of surveillance.

The MIAA coordinated with New NAIA Infra Corp (NNIC) for the operation.

The gang is linked to several thefts of unattended bags and devices from sleeping or distracted passengers, often during the 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. security shift change between April 28 and May 5.

Their modus operandi involved one member distracting victims while others stole belongings.

Two mobile phones and a laptop were recovered from the arrested individuals.

While five suspects were caught, two others escaped during a brief chase.

The MIAA has filed charges of theft, resistance and disrespect to persons in authority, and attempted escape against the suspects.

Authorities are also investigating the gang's possible links to other crimes in Metro Manila.

MIAA general manager Eric Jose Ines praised the operation.
