MWSS approves Q4 water rate adjustments for Maynilad, Manila Water

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) board has approved fourth-quarter water rate adjustments for Maynilad and Manila Water effective October 1, 2025, due to foreign exchange fluctuations.

Maynilad will implement a rate hike of P0.14 per cubic meter, while Manila Water will provide a rebate of P0.15 per cubic meter.

For Maynilad residential customers, monthly bills will increase by P0.40 for those consuming 10 cu.m. or less, P1.53 for 20 cu.m., and P3.13 for 30 cu.m.

Conversely, Manila Water residential customers consuming 10 cu.m. or less will experience a P0.64 decrease in their bills, with reductions of P1.43 for 20 cu.m. and P2.91 for 30 cu.m.

These adjustments are part of the Foreign Currency Differential Adjustment (FCDA) mechanism, which accounts for losses or gains from currency movements as concessionaires pay fees and loans in foreign currencies.

The MWSS also highlighted the Enhanced Lifeline Program (ELP), which offers discounts and FCDA exemptions to qualified low-consuming households, including beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
