Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon assured that the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) will begin operation by 2027, before the end of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s term.
The MRT-7 project is 83% complete and the first twelve stations from North EDSA to Sacred Heart in Quezon City are anticipated to be operational by 2027.
The Batasan Station in Quezon City is already 100 percent complete, with facilities like turnstile gates, ticket counters, and train platforms ready.
The project, which faced over 15 years of delays, is nearing completion in line with President Marcos' order to accelerate its timeline.
The construction of the Common Station project will also need to be accelerated to allow commuters to transfer between MRT-7, MRT-3, and LRT-1.
Once completed, the MRT-7 will shorten travel time from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan and alleviate vehicular traffic along Commonwealth Avenue.
An estimated 600,000 passengers are projected to use the MRT-7 daily in its first year of operation.
