MPTC, SMC waive toll fees on select expressways for holidays

Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) will waive toll fees on select expressways during specific hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve to ease holiday travel.

The toll waiver applies to North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) from 10 p.m. on December 24 to 6 a.m. on December 25, and again from 10 p.m. on December 31 to 6 a.m. on January 1, 2025.

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) will also waive toll fees on its expressways, including the Skyway System, NAIA Expressway, South Luzon Expressway, STAR Tollway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway, during the same holiday hours.

This initiative by both MPTC and SMC is intended as a way of thanking expressway users and helping them reach their families more easily during the holidays.

Both MPTC and SMC are implementing measures to ensure safety and smooth traffic, including deploying additional personnel and pre-positioning emergency vehicles.

Roadworks that could disrupt traffic will be suspended from December 20, 2024, until January 3, 2025, and traffic monitoring centers will operate 24/7.

The holiday rush has already caused heavy traffic congestion in some areas and at transportation hubs.
