MNLF commander, son killed in Maguindanao ambush

A village councilman and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) field commander Abusama Agao, also known as Commander Boy Negro, and his son Norodin were killed in an ambush by unidentified gunmen in Ampatuan town, Maguindanao del Sur on Monday.

The victims were riding a tricycle in Barangay Kapinpilan when they were attacked along the highway by assailants on motorcycles.

Agao's daughter, Jahara, sustained injuries during the attack and was brought to the Maguindanao provincial hospital.

The MNLF and the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region are collaborating with the Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police Office and the Army's 601st Infantry Brigade to identify the perpetrators.

Agao was known for his involvement in peacebuilding and law enforcement operations in the area.
