MMTCI hosts stakes races worth P12 million

The Metro Manila Turf Club Inc. (MMTCI) is hosting the second leg of the Prince Cup and King's Gold Cup stakes races with a total prize of P12 million.

Special guest delegations from UK-based auctioneers ThoroughBid and Tattersalls will be attending the event, highlighting international interest in Philippine racing.

MMTCI chairman and president Atty. Narciso Morales noted that the presence of these international groups signifies potential European investment in the local sector.

Morales also emphasized the industry's resilience, with MMTCI increasing its tax contributions to the government despite the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic.

Additionally, MMTCI is introducing 'Claiming' races, a system inspired by the Kentucky racing model, to enhance the horse racing experience.
