MMDA begins COVID-19 vaccination for personnel

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has started its anti-COVID-19 vaccination program for its personnel, initially targeting 200 workers.

The agency will prioritize inoculating medical frontliners, senior citizens, and individuals with comorbidities using the Sinovac vaccine.

MMDA Chairman Benjamin Abalos Jr. emphasized that the vaccination will follow the government's priority list, starting with senior citizens and medical frontliners.

Abalos highlighted that MMDA personnel are considered front-liners with high exposure and risk to COVID-19.

The MMDA has reported 771 confirmed COVID-19 cases among its 8,000 personnel, with 100 active cases and eight deaths.

Nationwide, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that 865,541 medical frontliners, 57,818 senior citizens, and 129,897 individuals with comorbidities have already received the vaccine.

Galvez mentioned that the general public might be able to get vaccinated as early as July, provided vaccine supplies become secure and stable.

The Philippines has recorded a total of 892,880 COVID-19 cases, with 704,386 recoveries and 15,447 fatalities.
