Mike Phillips focused on UAAP title after missing SEA Games

Filipino-American La Salle center Mike Phillips is channeling his disappointment over missing the 33rd Southeast Asian Games due to eligibility issues into a laser focus on securing the UAAP Season 88 championship.

Phillips was initially considered for the national team due to the absence of PBA and overseas players, but La Salle's potential deep playoff run and Thailand's 'passport only' eligibility rule, which classifies him as a naturalized player, prevented his participation.

Despite his desire to represent the country again after being part of the 2023 redeem team, Phillips has accepted the situation and is now fully dedicated to leading La Salle in their upcoming UAAP finals against UP.

The eligibility restrictions also impacted other Gilas roster members, including Justin Brownlee and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser.

Phillips expressed his faith, stating he gives all graces to God and will be praying for the Filipino athletes competing in the SEA Games.
