MICT breaks record with 3 million TEU throughput

The Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) has achieved a record-breaking throughput of three million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in a single year, signaling its enhanced capacity and operational improvements.

MICT Chief Executive Officer Christian Lozano stated that this accomplishment demonstrates the terminal's ability to manage increased demand and maintain service quality, even during peak periods.

The milestone was marked with the handling of the container vessel Ever Bliss, carrying containers for Universal Robina Corp.

To support higher throughput and modernize its operations, MICT recently introduced additional hybrid rubber-tired gantries and electric terminal tractors.

The terminal is also advancing the development of its eighth berth, which will feature a 300-meter quay and a 12-hectare yard, with a planned depth of 15 meters to accommodate larger vessels.
