MGen, Kepco expand partnership to explore wind power, energy storage

Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) and Korea Electric Power Corp. (Kepco) are expanding their collaboration to explore investments in wind power and energy storage systems (ESS) in the Philippines.

This expansion follows MGen's subsidiary, SP New Energy Corp. (SPNEC), becoming a shareholder in the Calatagan Solar Farm in Batangas, joining Kepco.

SPNEC previously replaced Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings, Inc. in this role.

SPNEC also leads the development of MGen's large-scale Terra Solar facility in Luzon.

MGen's CEO stated that the strengthened partnership with Kepco underscores the group's dedication to clean energy and the Philippines' sustainability objectives.

Kepco Philippines Holdings, Inc. President & CEO Jeon Yongsu added that the agreement will help accelerate local renewable energy development and set a benchmark for strategic energy partnerships across Asia.
