Metro Manila mayors urge IATF to ease restrictions for vaxxed individuals

Metro Manila mayors have asked the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to consider easing restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals.

The council's proposal, outlined in MMC Resolution No. 21-19, series of 2021, is contingent upon a thorough study by the IATF-EID.

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion views the MMC's call as aligned with his 'Bakuna Bubble' concept, which aims to accelerate economic recovery by allowing vaccinated individuals more mobility.

Concepcion stated that the 'Bakuna Bubble' is a win-win solution, enabling coexistence with COVID-19 while aiding economic recovery.

However, Malacañang stated that the suggestion to relax COVID-19 restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals is still being debated within the government.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque mentioned that while it is being debated, the IATF agrees there is a need to ease the suffering of everyone.

As of September 8, approximately 56% of the NCR's eligible population had completed their COVID-19 vaccination, with 84.21% having received at least one dose.
