Metro Manila mayors finalize quarantine recommendation

Metro Manila mayors have reached a consensus on the recommended quarantine status for the region starting May 15.

The Metropolitan Manila Council (MMC) considered factors such as hospital capacity, vaccine arrival, decreasing COVID-19 cases, and economic conditions.

Their recommendation will be presented to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) today.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairperson Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. stated that the final decision rests with President Rodrigo Duterte.

Currently, Metro Manila is under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until May 14.
