Metro Manila COVID-19 positivity rate climbs to 11.5%

Metro Manila's COVID-19 positivity rate has risen to 11.5% as of July 13, an increase from 10.9% on July 9, according to OCTA Research.

This rise in positivity rate suggests that there could be over 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) on July 14.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David indicated that the trend of new COVID-19 cases in the NCR may have already peaked, but the increased positivity rate could lead to more cases.

If infections increase, the peak of the current wave is still anticipated soon, unless the wave is prolonged.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 hospitalization rate in the NCR has increased to 30.2%, with 1,856 hospital beds occupied.

Intensive care unit (ICU) occupancy also rose to 22.6%.

Despite these increases, David stated that these metrics remain within safe levels and advised continued adherence to health protocols.
