Meralco warns of higher electricity rates this November

Meralco anticipates a rise in electricity rates for November, marking the second consecutive month of increases.

The overall rate for a typical household will increase to P13.4702 per kWh from P13.3182 per kWh in October.

This adjustment will result in an additional P30 charge for residential customers consuming 200 kWh.

Higher transmission charges, driven by increased ancillary service charges from the Reserve Market by NGCP, are a primary factor.

The feed-in tariff allowance (FIT-All) has also increased to P0.2073 per kWh, as directed by the ERC.

These increases were partially offset by a decline in generation charges, attributed to lower fuel costs in power supply agreements and a decrease in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
