Meralco cuts electricity rates by P0.3557 per kWh for December

Meralco has announced a reduction in electricity rates by P0.3557 per kilowatt-hour for the holiday season.

The new rate is P13.1145 per kWh, offering savings for consumers compared to previous months.

Households consuming an average of 200 kWh can expect to save approximately P71 on their December electricity bills.

This rate reduction is attributed to decreased transmission and generation charges.

Lower ancillary service charges from the NGCP and reduced charges from Independent Power Producers contributed to the overall decrease.

Factors such as lower natural gas prices, improved plant dispatch, and the appreciation of the Philippine Peso against the US Dollar also played a role in lowering generation charges.
