Meralco Bolts clinch PBA quarterfinals berth after beating SMB

The Meralco Bolts secured a spot in the PBA Commissioner's Cup quarterfinals by defeating the San Miguel Beermen 100-93.

The victory, which took place at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur, also improved their chances for a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals.

Akil Mitchell led Meralco's offense with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and five assists, with Chris Newsome contributing 20 points and Chris Banchero adding 19 points.

Despite relinquishing a significant lead in the third quarter, the Bolts rallied with a 10-0 run in the final minutes, anchored by Mitchell's and-one play.

This marked Meralco's third consecutive win, bringing their record to 7-3 and tying them with NorthPort, Eastern, and Converge for second place, just behind TNT.

The Bolts have two more games remaining against Ginebra and Magnolia.
