Megawide bags P1.2B contract for Baguio integrated terminal

Megawide Construction Corp. has been awarded a P1.2 billion contract to develop the Baguio City Integrated Terminal (BCIT).

The company received the Notice of Award on October 17, following the conclusion of a Swiss Challenge.

The BCIT will cater to provincial buses coming from outside Baguio and will serve as a passenger transfer terminal, featuring loading and unloading bays, commercial establishments, and public parking.

It will also include 24-hour safety and security systems, schedule information kiosks, ticket booths, baggage amenities, free wi-fi, toilets, and PWD-friendly facilities.

Facilities for transportation operators include a staging area for repair and cleaning, drivers' lounge, canteen, and electronic vehicle charging.

The terminal, designed to accommodate up to 25,000 passengers daily, will rise on a five-hectare property in Barangay Dontogan and will initially serve seven southbound routes.

The project operates under a 40-year lease agreement with the Baguio City government and aims to help decongest major roads.
