MCIA named Asia's Airport of the Year for CEBConnects program

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has been honored as Asia's Airport of the Year at the 2025 TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards, held in Singapore.

The award recognized MCIA's CEBConnects program, which optimizes air-to-air transfers and redesigns passenger flow and infrastructure, including dedicated transfer facilities.

The airport operator, Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC), successfully lowered the domestic-to-domestic minimum connection time (MCT) to 35 minutes.

Domestic-to-international, international-to-domestic, and international-to-international connections are now facilitated within 60 minutes, down from previous times.

These improvements have led to a 45 percent year-on-year increase in passenger volume.

ACAC CEO Athanasios Titonis highlighted that these improvements leverage Cebu's strategic location to boost tourism and enhance the traveler experience.

Julius Neri Jr., General Manager and CEO of Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority, stated that the improvements driven by CEBConnects are a game-changer for airline operations and customer experience.
