MCIA expands domestic routes to boost tourism and connectivity

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is expanding its domestic route network to establish Cebu as a central gateway for travelers exploring the Philippines.

Sunlight Air has introduced new non-stop flights to Siquijor via Cebu, offering the sole direct air service to the island, which is known as the "Healing Island."

The addition of direct Siquijor flights is expected to generate P300 million in revenue by 2026 and provide new opportunities for local communities.

Sunlight Air's Cebu-Siargao flights have been running for a year already, since operations started in April 2024.

MCIA's CEB Connects transfer service significantly reduces connection times, allowing for 60-minute transfers for international flights and 35-minute transfers for domestic flights.

Cebu also acts as the primary gateway to San Vicente, Palawan, with Cebu Pacific providing the only direct flights to this developing tourist spot.

Access from MCIA to San Vicente shortens travel time from Puerto Princesa from four to five hours to just 45 to 60 minutes.
