Mary Jane Veloso moved to CIW dormitory after quarantine

Mary Jane Veloso has been transferred to a regular dormitory at the Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC) of the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) after completing her quarantine period.

She will remain in the RDC for 55 days for mandatory orientation, diagnostics, and classification.

This phase helps new persons deprived of liberty (PDL) understand the rules and regulations of the correctional facility, as well as their rights and privileges.

The orientation will also provide vital information regarding various rehabilitation programs, health services, time allowances, and grievance mechanisms.

Veloso was initially housed in a regular Quarantine Cell for medical observation during her quarantine.

After her 55-day evaluation, she will be transferred to an assigned corrections facility based on the resolution of the RDC Initial Classification Board.

Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. stated that Veloso's prison records from Indonesia are being translated to determine if her incarceration there can be recognized as valid prison time.
