Marikina tests 6,000 tricycle drivers for COVID-19

Marikina City is conducting mass rapid testing for at least 6,000 tricycle drivers who have resumed operations.

Mayor Marcelino Teodoro clarified that the testing is not mandatory for drivers to operate but is a precautionary measure.

As of Monday, over 1,000 drivers were tested, with three individuals testing positive for COVID-19.

Those who tested positive have been immediately quarantined and are undergoing confirmatory tests, with medical treatment to follow if confirmed.

Contact tracing will be conducted for individuals who had direct contact with the drivers who tested positive.

The rapid testing is being conducted until Friday.

The city also plans to test workers from markets, groceries, and shoe businesses for COVID-19.

Assistance will continue to be provided to workers in the city, particularly those who test positive.
