Marikina COVID-19 testing lab eyes DOH nod next week

Marikina's local government unit (LGU) is on track to receive DOH accreditation for its new COVID-19 testing laboratory next week after completing biosafety training and proficiency testing.

Mayor Marcy Teodoro confirmed that the biosafety training for lab personnel has been rescheduled and is currently ongoing, with completion expected by Saturday.

The proficiency test, which evaluates both personnel and the lab's functionality, will follow the training on Monday.

The laboratory is technically open on Friday, but actual testing is expected to start after DOH certification is obtained next week.

Starting Saturday, only authorized personnel will be allowed inside the facility, which will be locked down and decontaminated due to the presence of live virus samples from RITM used in the proficiency test.
