PBBM thanks outgoing PNG envoy for strengthening ties

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. thanked the outgoing ambassador of Papua New Guinea (PNG), Betty Palaso, for her five-year service in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Marcos expressed his gratitude during Palaso's courtesy call and conveyed his expectation for her successor to continue fostering cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, and fisheries.

Ambassador Palaso presented her Letter of Credence in March 2019 and previously served as Commissioner General of the PNG Internal Revenue Commission.

The Philippines was one of the first nations to establish formal diplomatic relations with PNG in 1975.

The Philippines and PNG will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their bilateral relations next year.
