Marcos: P2.25T digital economy created 11.3M jobs last year

Leaders from GCash and various government agencies convened at the Manila Tech Summit 2025 to discuss strategies for enhancing digital financial services for Filipinos amidst a rapidly evolving digital economy.

The summit's theme, "Forging a New Global Order: Risks and Opportunities Redefined," provided a platform for exploring technology's role in creating digitally inclusive societies.

GCash highlighted its role in providing access to financial services like payments, savings, insurance, and lending to millions of Filipinos.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. noted the significant growth of the Philippines' digital sector, which reached P2.25 trillion and created 11.3 million jobs last year, underscoring its importance to economic development.

The President emphasized the need for continued growth in the digital sector and announced plans to expand internet infrastructure and free WiFi access nationwide to foster inclusive growth.
