Marcos orders LGUs to again accept completed national projects

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the reinstatement of the acceptance process for completed national government projects by local government units (LGUs).

This measure aims to ensure that projects are truly finished and meet required standards before turnover.

Marcos stated that the requirement for local officials to formally acknowledge and inspect completed projects was removed during the previous administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

He emphasized that the rule is an important safeguard and its reinstatement will improve project oversight and accountability.

Marcos created an Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to investigate alleged anomalies in flood control and other infrastructure projects over the past 10 years.

The ICI is empowered to subpoena records, summon witnesses, and conduct hearings, with its findings to be forwarded to the Department of Justice, the Office of the Ombudsman, and the Civil Service Commission.
