Marcos Jr. vows reduced flooding in Cebu within a year

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. promised Cebuanos that flooding in their communities will be significantly reduced within a year through the government's intensified declogging and desilting of waterways.

The President made this commitment during the launch of 'Oplan Kontra Baha: Metro Cebu Waterways Clearing and Cleaning Operations' at Mahiga Creek, stressing that clogged outlets will be cleared to allow water to flow freely.

Marcos also mentioned the planned construction of three to five Sabo Dams to prevent the downstream flow of soil and debris, further aiding in flood control.

The 'Oplan Kontra Baha' initiative, which was first implemented in Metro Manila, involves a collaboration between national government agencies, local government units, and the private sector to clean rivers, creeks, and drainage systems.

During the event, President Marcos personally observed the dredging and waste removal activities being conducted at Mahiga Creek.
