PBBM to skip Trump, Xi meetings at APEC Summit

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will not hold meetings with United States President Donald Trump or Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in South Korea.

DFA spokesperson Angelica Escalona confirmed that no meetings with the leaders of the US and China are currently on Marcos' itinerary.

However, Marcos stated that the meeting between Trump and Xi will "influence everything" in the APEC Summit.

Marcos' focus during the event will be on advancing the Philippines' economic interests, engaging with APEC business leaders, and strengthening cooperation with other member economies.

He will also address the APEC CEO Summit and hold dialogues with the APEC Business Advisory Council.

The president is expected to meet one-on-one with various business leaders and executives from priority sectors, including manufacturing and semiconductors.

The summit is expected to produce outcome documents, including a leaders' declaration and statements on artificial intelligence, demographic change, and cultural creative industries.
