Marcos Jr. urges 42 new AFP generals to protect sovereignty

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged newly promoted Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) generals to uphold the Constitution and protect Philippine sovereignty.

He emphasized that their promotion reflects the nation's confidence in their integrity and professionalism.

Marcos reminded the 42 newly promoted officers that the stars they bear are constant reminders of their obligations to protect national sovereignty, uphold national security, and safeguard the freedoms of every Filipino.

He reiterated that their loyalty is anchored to the Constitution, democratic institutions, and above all, the people.

The President also mentioned that the government has taken meaningful steps to ensure the AFP remains disciplined and competent, citing international partnerships in training, defense cooperation, and interagency coordination.
