PBBM directs DILG to find alt fishing sites post oil spill

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to explore alternative fishing sites for communities affected by the Oriental Mindoro oil spill.

The proposed alternative fishing grounds include Mindoro Strait, Cuyo Pass, Tablas Strait, and Tayabas Bay.

DILG Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. will meet with local chief executives in four Calabarzon and Mimaropa provinces to discuss the feasibility of these sites.

The President assured that immediate actions to contain the oil spill have been taken.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will continue monitoring the situation.

The Department of Labor and Employment is also looking for alternative livelihoods for affected residents.
