Marcos Jr. reshuffles Cabinet, Loyzaga replaced

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced an initial phase of cabinet reshuffling by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., following a directive for 52 officials to submit courtesy resignations.

Bersamin's own resignation was rejected, signifying the President's continued trust.

The economic team, including Secretaries Cristina Roque (Trade), Ralph Recto (Finance), NEDA Chief Arsenio Balisacan, Amenah Pangandaman (Budget), and Presidential Adviser Frederick Go, will remain in their positions.

However, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ma. Antonia Yulo Loyzaga will be replaced by Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla.

Bersamin attributed Loyzaga's departure to reports of perceived underperformance, citing that she was often out of the country, while denying any specific corruption issue.

He further stated that the President's decision was based on the evaluation that it was time for her to rest, implying that underperformance is not allowed.
