Marcos orders full power restoration in Siquijor by year-end

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has ordered a full restoration of power in Siquijor by year-end, warning power firms against continued blackouts.

He emphasized this in his fourth State of the Nation Address, stating he would not let the recent Siquijor situation pass without action.

Marcos highlighted the severe impact of the widespread brownouts on residents, tourism, businesses, and services, which forced the province to declare a state of calamity.

A government probe revealed issues such as expired permits and neglected, broken generators.

The President also criticized the slow response of concerned companies and their lack of proper systems for purchasing fuel and equipment.

He vowed to ensure facilities are established for a long-term solution and called for improved management of power companies, including the enforcement of refunds if necessary.
