Marcos cancels passport of ex-Rep. Zaldy Co over flood control project anomalies

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. announced the cancellation of the passport of former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co, who is implicated in anomalies in multibillion-peso flood control projects.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed the passport cancellation, which took effect yesterday, in accordance with a directive from the Sandiganbayan and the President's order.

The DFA and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been instructed to coordinate with embassies worldwide to prevent Co from fleeing the country and to report his movements.

Marcos stated that the government's investigation into the alleged anomalous flood control projects will continue to hold the guilty accountable and ensure stolen public funds are returned.

Co, who previously chaired the House Appropriations Committee and resigned as representative of the Ako Bicol party-list, is facing an arrest warrant issued by the Sandiganbayan over an alleged anomalous flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.

Also ordered arrested were at least 15 other individuals from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and construction firm Sunwest Corp., for graft and malversation of public funds.
