The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) called the actions of the People's Liberation Army - Air Force (PLAAF) last Thursday, August 8, unjustified, illegal, and reckless.

Philippine Navy spokesperson for West Philippine Sea (WPS) Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad clarified that recent bilateral agreements with China focused on Ayungin Shoal, not Scarborough Shoal, and reiterated that such actions are illegal and coercive.

The AFP remains committed to its mandate and is "up to the challenge" of the Chinese military, with the PAF confirming the availability of FA-50 Golden Eagle fighter aircraft.
