Marcos Jr. names Lantion as new BCDA acting chair

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has appointed retired police general Thompson Lantion as the new acting chairperson of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

Lantion, who also served as secretary general of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, took his oath of office before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Monday.

He replaces former Department of National Defense chief Delfin Lorenzana, who is stepping down to transition to private life.

Under Lorenzana's leadership, BCDA recorded a P3.7-billion net profit last year, marking a 20.6% increase.

Lorenzana expressed confidence that Lantion will sustain or surpass the progress made by the agency.

Marcos Jr. tasked Lantion with improving the performance of BCDA corporations and addressing investment-related issues.

Discussions are ongoing regarding a proposal to divert BCDA's revenue contributions from the AFP Modernization Project to AFP retirees and pensioners.
