Marcos Jr. appoints Johann Carlos Barcena as new NPC Commissioner

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Atty. Johann Carlos Barcena as the new Commissioner of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).

Barcena, who previously served as an executive director at the Governance Commission for Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GCG), took his oath of office before the President in Malacañang.

The NPC welcomed Barcena, anticipating his leadership in enhancing data protection in the Philippines.

Barcena succeeds Atty. John Henry Naga and will serve a three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment, as stipulated by the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
