Malacañang asks Marcoleta to address wife's alleged link to Discaya couple

Malacañang has stated that Senator Rodante Marcoleta should personally address allegations linking his wife to the Discaya couple regarding a flood control project.

Senator Marcoleta has denied his wife Edna's link to the Discayas, clarifying that she is an independent director and chair of the audit committee at Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc.

He explained that an independent director cannot qualify if they have relatives who own the company or are involved in decision-making, emphasizing her role is to protect minority shareholders.

Stronghold Insurance Co., Inc. is an insurance company that provided bonds for contractors owned by flood control project contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya.

Marcoleta dismissed the allegations as part of a smear campaign and denied protectiveness towards the Discayas.

A notarized acknowledgment in 2022 showed Sarah Discaya, through Alpha & Omega Contractor, personally transacted with Stronghold for a bond obligation.
