Manila Water acquires WawaJVCo for P37.8B

Manila Water Company Inc. has completed its acquisition of WawaJVCo Inc., a unit of the Razon Group, for P37.8 billion.

The acquisition, which closed after meeting all conditions, makes WawaJVCo a subsidiary of Manila Water, with Trident Water Company Holdings Inc. holding 56.91 percent of Manila Water.

This consolidation allows Manila Water to manage both the Tayabasan Weir and the Upper Wawa Dam, intended to enhance Metro Manila's water resources.

The Tayabasan Weir, operational since late 2022, has a capacity of 80 million liters per day (MLD).

The Upper Wawa Dam is expected to begin commercial operations by December, with a supply capacity of up to 710 MLD.

Manila Water anticipates the move will provide greater focus and flexibility in water resource allocation and allow for more efficient operations and cost management.
