Manila signs deal for 800K vaccine doses

The Manila City government has signed a tripartite agreement with the national government and AstraZeneca to purchase 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines for its residents.

The city has begun constructing a 100-square-meter COVID-19 vaccine storage facility at Sta. Ana Hospital.

This facility will house the 12 refrigeration units recently purchased by the city government to store various COVID-19 vaccines at normal to subzero temperatures.

Mayor Isko Moreno chose Sta. Ana Hospital as the site due to its power generators, ensuring vaccine integrity during power interruptions.

The city government is also coordinating with Meralco to ensure a steady power supply at the hospital.

Moreno hopes the construction of the facility will be finished within the month, before the arrival of the initial vaccine supply.
