Manila releases P143M in barangay budget backlogs

The city government of Manila has released over P143 million in long-pending budget items for its barangays, clearing backlogs that accumulated over more than two years.

The released funds include the Barangay Clearance Share from January 2023 to September 2025, the Barangay Development Fund for fiscal year 2025, and the 30-percent Real Property Tax share from July to November 2025.

Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso stated that the Barangay Clearance Share aligns the city with the Anti-Red Tape Act and the Ease of Doing Business law.

The Barangay Development Fund will provide P12,000 per barangay for 2025, intended to support basic operational needs and small-scale community programs in Manila's 896 barangays.

The release also covers the mandated 30 percent share of barangays from the city's Real Property Tax collections, as per the Local Government Code.
