Manila mayor says COVID-19 remarks not aimed at any politician

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno clarified to TV host Willie Revillame that his recent statements amidst the COVID-19 crisis were not directed at any specific politician.

Moreno explained that he was speaking as a Filipino, expressing the public's expectation for leaders to set aside political differences and focus on addressing the crisis.

He emphasized that no single individual or group has all the solutions, citing the struggles of even developed countries like the US, Japan, and South Korea.

Revillame then proposed forming an organization with Moreno and Senator Manny Pacquiao to help those affected by the crisis, offering his support without personal gain.

Previously, Moreno had urged all national leaders, regardless of their political affiliation, to donate their salaries and demonstrate genuine concern for the people during the pandemic.

Moreno challenged senators and other politicians to show their love for Filipinos by extending any possible assistance.

Senate President Tito Sotto and Senator Panfilo Lacson responded, noting that the Senate had already proposed a special session to discuss financial aid for Filipinos.
