Manila court grants Teves P120,000 bail in one murder case

A Manila court has granted former Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo Teves Jr. a bail of P120,000 in connection with the murder of Lester Bato.

Despite this bail grant, Teves will remain detained because he is facing other murder charges, including the assassination of Gov. Roel Degamo and 10 others.

Teves' lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio, stated that the bail grant indicates the weakness of the cases against his client, suggesting they are politically motivated.

The Department of Justice, through spokesperson Assistant Mico Clavano, emphasized that prosecutors will strongly oppose the bail, and this ruling does not affect the strength of the other pending charges against Teves.
