Manila Archbishop urges Filipinos to find strength in Virgin Mary amid corruption, poverty

Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula urged Filipinos to draw strength and courage from the Virgin Mary in confronting the country's corruption and poverty issues.

Speaking during the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Advincula stated that Mary serves as an inspiration to Catholics facing 'endless trials'.

He acknowledged that many Filipinos feel hopeless due to the pervasive issues of corruption and poverty, stating, "Sometimes it feels like we have no hope, especially with the issue of corruption in our country and with the ongoing problem of poverty that makes our countrymen's lives more difficult."

Advincula likened Mary to a 'guiding star' that illuminates darkness and encourages Catholics to seek inspiration, strength, and courage from her.

He emphasized that Mary's presence is a reminder that God is with His people, even in difficult circumstances, and that her faith remains constant.
