Manila Archbishop urges Catholics to emulate Pope Francis' legacy

Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula urged Filipino Catholics to emulate Pope Francis' legacy as a "smuggler of faith".

During a requiem Mass, Advincula reflected on Pope Francis' impact on the Filipino faithful, describing his 2015 visit to the Philippines as "a moment of grace forever etched in our national memory".

He recalled the Pope's visit to Tacloban following Super Typhoon Yolanda, where he showed solidarity with victims, and the Mass celebrated at Luneta.

Cardinal Advincula highlighted that Pope Francis' presence, prayers, and preaching confirmed Filipinos in faith, enlivened their hope, and animated them to charity.

The Cardinal also noted the Pope's consistent love for the Philippines through his words and actions, including the appointment of numerous Filipino clergy.

Advincula encouraged the faithful to continue sharing the light of Christ with the world, as Pope Francis called them to be "smugglers of the faith".
