Manila Archbishop urges adherence to rule of law, rejects extra-constitutional means

Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula urged the public to adhere to the rule of law and reject extra-constitutional means to resolve national issues.

He emphasized the importance of reason over emotion during mass gatherings and public discourse, advocating for loyalty to the country and its democratic principles.

Cardinal Advincula advised the public to be critical and discerning with information, warning against the spread of misinformation, which he described as a pandemic of lies.

He stressed the Christian duty to verify information before sharing it, promoting truth as the guiding standard.

Furthermore, the Archbishop called upon the military and police to remain faithful to the nation, not to specific individuals.

He encouraged personal and institutional conversion, emphasizing the need for integrity, accountability, truth, and justice to prevail, especially amid a deep moral and spiritual crisis marked by corruption and mistrust in institutions.

His call comes on the eve of anti-corruption rallies and a three-day protest action by the Iglesia ni Cristo.
