Man killed in Palawan crocodile attack

A 22-year-old man from Taytay, Palawan, was killed in a crocodile attack while sleeping on his boat in the mangrove area of Marabajay River, Barangay Rio Tuba, Bataraza town.

The victim, identified as Leonard Casio, was dragged by a crocodile early Wednesday morning.

A search and rescue operation was launched by the Coast Guard Station Southern Palawan, Philippine National Police Maritime Group, and barangay personnel.

The operation was initially hampered by high tide, poor visibility, and warnings about crocodiles, and was temporarily suspended for safety reasons.

Casio's body was found floating and recovered when the crocodile was out of sight.

His remains were identified by his family and transported to a funeral home in Brooke's Point.
