Malaysian rider wins Stage 6, Corpuz moves to second overall in Tour of Luzon

Muhammad Zahin Wahhi of the Malaysian Pro Cycling Team won Stage 6 of the 2025 Tour of Luzon, while Mervin Corpuz of MPT Drivehub moved up to second place overall.

Corpuz, a 27-year-old native of Umingan, Pangasinan, finished the 174.5-kilometer stage behind Wahhi with a time of 3 hours, 31 minutes, and 12 seconds.

This strong performance allowed Corpuz to reduce the overall lead of Korean rider Joo Dae Yeong from 4 minutes and 30 seconds to 1 minute and 56 seconds.

Joo, representing Korea's Gapyeong Cycling Team, still holds the yellow jersey with an overall time of 17:41:34, while Corpuz is at 17:43:30.

Before this stage, Corpuz was in fifth place overall, trailing Joo by 4 minutes and 44 seconds.

Corpuz mentioned that he was closely observing Joo's movements during the race, drawing a parallel between a machine overheating and a person doing the same.

Corpuz was part of a chase group that caught up to the leading pack in San Jose, Tarlac, maintaining his position until Wahhi secured the sprint victory in the final 230 meters.
