Philippines hosts biggest golf event in 30 years with $2M International Series

The Philippines is hosting its biggest golf tournament in 30 years, the International Series Philippines, a $2 million event on the Asian Tour's elevated schedule.

The tournament, taking place at the Sta. Elena Golf and Country Club, features Major champions Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed, among other elite golfers.

Beyond competing for prize money and Official World Golf Ranking points, these international players aim to spur the growth of golf in the Philippines.

Dustin Johnson highlighted the importance of inspiring future Filipino golfers, emphasizing that the International Series and LIV Golf are actively promoting the sport globally.

The Philippines last hosted a golf event of this magnitude in January 1995 with the Johnnie Walker Classic.

Australian pro golfer Marc Leishman expressed his hope that the tournament would inspire young athletes to take up the sport.
