Hotshots beat Hong Kong Eastern, keep playoff hopes alive

The Magnolia Hotshots secured a vital 107-78 victory against Hong Kong Eastern at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, Rizal, improving their record to 5-6 and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Import Ricardo Ratliffe led the Hotshots with 25 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals, while Zavier Lucero and Jerom Lastimosa contributed 20 points each.

Magnolia established a commanding lead and held Eastern to under 80 points for the first time this conference.

Coach Chito Victolero emphasized the team's 'survival' mindset and 'urgency' in a 'do-or-die situation.'

The Hotshots will face Meralco next on January 31 in another must-win game, a match Victolero expects to be a gargantuan struggle.

This win puts pressure on San Miguel Beer, NLEX, and Rain or Shine in the chase for the last two playoff spots, with NLEX and Rain or Shine also having 5-6 and 6-5 records respectively.
