Magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu causes hospital evacuation

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu caused the evacuation of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

Three babies were being delivered during the earthquake and were among the patients evacuated.

Dr. Gracita Rabago and her team successfully delivered a healthy baby boy roadside in an open area outside the hospital despite limited medical supplies, ongoing aftershocks, and a heavy downpour.

At least five persons were reported injured in Cebu City due to the tremor, including a minor who sustained a fractured hand after slipping during the earthquake.

Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival stated that patients were initially allowed to stay on the first floor due to a lack of space in available tents.

All patients returned to the hospital on Thursday morning after authorities assured there would be no more aftershocks.
